Abstract:
I will describe topologically non-trivial
solutions of vacuum Maxwell
electrodynamics. These solutions are
generally obtained via two different
formulations of Maxwell electrodynamics in
terms of complex scalar functions. I will
explain these two formulations in detail. I
will show how these topological solutions
can be obtained via complex conformal
transformation acting on constant solution.
This new method of generating solution
has led to wide class of such topological
solutions. I will also describe a new
formulation of such solutions via
quaternions and a simple map between the
electromagnetic knotted solutions into flat
connections of SU(2) gauge theory.
