Details

The Racah Institute of Physics at the Hebrew University invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at all levels and in all fields of physics. Faculty candidates are expected to have a strong track record in research and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Candidates should have a Ph.D degree and a postdoctoral research experience.

The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, to lead an active research group involving M.Sc and Ph.D students and to raise external funding for their research. Note that teaching at the Hebrew University is primarily in Hebrew. While excellent candidates who are not fluent in Hebrew will be considered, successful candidates will be expected to be able to teach in Hebrew within a couple of years.

Applications should be addressed to faculty.search@phys.huji.ac.il. An application should include the following, in English:

1. Personal information form (fill in "application_tenure_track_position_racah_2023-24.docx" file, also attached below, and export to pdf).
2. Curriculum Vitae.
3. Updated list of publications.
4. Scientific biography (2-4 pages), covering the candidate's previous work and future plans.
5. Teaching statement (up to 1-page), describing the candidate’s teaching experience and perspective.
6. PDF files of up to three of the candidate’s best papers.
7. Contact information of PhD advisors and postdoctoral advisors/hosts (if applicable).
8. Three letters of recommendation, solicited by the candidate, from the PhD advisor(s) and postdoctoral advisors/hosts (if applicable), and additional references as necessary. The letters should be sent (by the recommenders) directly to faculty.search@phys.huji.ac.il and should be addressed to the Physics dept. chair, Prof. Nadav Katz.
9. Optionally, also send a list of experts who could evaluate the candidate's application, and/or a list of people you would prefer we not consult.

Acknowledgments will be sent as the material is received.

Candidates are encouraged to be in contact with the relevant research groups or researchers at the Racah Institute during their postdoc period and towards the time in which they wish to apply. They are also encouraged to visit the Racah Institute, give seminars and meet the relevant people at the institute, between late October and December. Offers are generally given between February and July.

Note that the university requests the list of publications to follow standard guidelines.

Good luck
