Abstract:
Causality fixes the signs of certain coupling
constants in effective field theory. I will
show how these constraints follow from a
causality sum rule for position-space
correlators, and combine this method with
the conformal bootstrap to derive new
constraints on strongly interacting CFTs.
Causality of spinning operators is related to
the Hofman-Maldacena conditions for
positive energy in conformal collider
physics. I will also discuss applications to
holography.
