High Energy Theory Group Seminar: Speculation about the family problem and SO(18)

Date:
Wed, 29/03/201712:00-13:00
Location:
Kaplun building, Room No. 200
Lecturer: Prof. Anthony Zee
Affiliation: KITP and University of California, Santa-Barbara
Abstract:
Why quarks and leptons should exist in three copies remains one of the deep unsolved problems in particle physics. I will recall a proposal Wilczek and I made using the peculiar properties of SO(8) and SO(18) to explain why Nature repeats herself, and then describe a recent speculation BenTov and I considered.
