Abstract:
Supergravity solution-generating techniques
construct large numbers of geometries that, if
not themselves black holes microstates, are on
the verge of becoming black holes. When
branes wrap non-trivial cycles in these
geometries, a finite fraction of black hole
entropy can be accounted for. These results
point toward a construction where both bulk
geometry and gravitational entropy are
apparent — a key ingredient for the resolution
of the black hole information paradox.
