Title: The status of compact binary mergers
Compact binary mergers play a central role in several branches of
astrophysics such as gravitational wave emission, gamma-ray bursts
or the formation of heavy elements. They are also a prime example of
a challenging multi-physics problem that needs ingredients from nearly
all areas of physics. I will review our current understanding of this exiting
topic.
