Title: GRB host galaxy observations
Abstract:
The host galaxies of long and short GRBs have always attracted
interest. They are interesting targets by themselves since they are not selected for
brightness and therefore constitute an independent sample for galaxy evolution studies.
In addition, studying the host galaxies, it is possible to constrain the nature of GRB
progenitors and in a few cases even the local environment.
I will therefore discuss the main results obtained so far and also take the opportunity
to show some of the most recent results obtained with X-shooter, a new generation
spectrograph now operational at ESO, with an on-going program devoted to GRB afterglows and host galaxies.
