Abstract:
The far-infrared (FIR) region of the electromagnetic spectrum is now being opened by development of new, sensitive detectors. New applications include materials analysis, security tools, studies of global warming, and new astronomy observations. We have developed detectors for this spectral region that use superconducting nanostructures, and the novel two-dimensional material graphene. We describe the advanced microwave studies of electron-phonon coupling in graphene, and future applications.
