Title: Fundamental physics from Astrophysics
Abstract: I describe how to use standard clocks to directly determine
the expansion history
of the universe up to z~2. This in turn constraints the lagrangian of
dark energy to % accuracy. I will show recent results and will argue
that we almost know what dark energy is. In the second part of my talk
I discuss how to exploit observations of magnetized compact objects
(Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs) to detect the Peccei-Quinn axion from
current observations.
