Abstract:

Oxide interfaces can stir correlations, superconductivity, ferroelectricity, and magnetism into low-
dimensional systems. A fascinating example is SrTiO 3 -based interfaces where tunable
superconductivity can form on the various crystalline surfaces.
In the talk, I will describe the similarities and differences between interfacial superconductivity
formed on the (111) and the (100) crystal faces. Can we tune the interface close to the
superconductor-to-insulator transition? What happens when the bulk becomes ferroelectric?
I will also discuss similar systems recently discovered and future experiments.
