Abstract:
Measuring features on images is an important tool in image analysis. We address in this talk the problem of measuring accurately several features of signals and images. The main issue is the design of window shape and the construction of good filter bank.
Group theory technique is borrowed from physics to help generalize beyond the time-frequency analysis.
It is shown that the time-frequency is unique in several respects and that the principle of uncertainty does not limit that accuracy of measurements for other cases.
It is also shown that proper observable should be defined for the measurements.
