Title: The Physics of Gamma-Ray Bursts in the Gravitational-Wave Era

Abstract: The binary neutron star merger GW170817 was the first gravitational-wave event with electromagnetic counterparts. This historic event ushered in fresh perspectives of study for gamma-ray bursts. From the geometry of relativistic jets and emission mechanisms therein to populations of sources and their use for precision cosmology, I will illustrate recent developments with work of my own and collaborators. I will also discuss how near-future advances in gamma-ray burst observations and multi-messenger data collecting will support this new era of gamma-ray burst studies.
