Abstract: Many astrophysical environments have stars interacting with gas, including young star clusters and active galactic nuclei (AGN). I will discuss the consequences of star-gas interactions in such environments. For example, gas drag can form binaries during close encounters between stars. In a galactic center, stars can be captured into an AGN disc, while accreting and inspiraling. These star-gas interactions have observational signatures and significant consequences for the dynamical evolution of star clusters.
