Title: complex magnetic textures in topological materials

Abstract:

Quantum materials are rapidly emerging as the basis for possiblenovel computation devices. However, fully understanding the magnetism and theinterplay between magnetic and electronic excitations in these materials arepreventing us from realizing their full potential.

In my talk I will show how realizing the microscopic magnetictextures in quantum materials is crucial to the understanding of transportphenomena on the macro scale. I will focus on the ferromagnetic Weyl semimetalCo3Sn2S2 and show how with a combination oftransport, magnetization, and magnetic imaging we reveal the nature of themagnetic phase in the material. Through the exchange bias of the anomalous Halleffect, we discovered evidence to a spin glass phase coexisting withferromagnetism. This glass behavior is likely caused by the geometricfrustration intrinsic to the Kagome network of magnetic ions dictated by thecrystal structure.
