Gamma-Ray Bursts and Magnetic Fields
The prompt emission and afterglow of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are believed to be described by the synchrotron shock model. Although the model requires strong magnetic fields in the emission region, the origin and its role in jet dynamics are still unknown. I will discuss polarimetric observations by our 2m robotic Liverpool telescope and theoretical models related to the magnetization of GRB jets.
