IGM Emission Mapping
I describe recent results from the Palomar Cosmic Web Imager (PCWI). These include the discovery of filamentary Lyman alpha emission around a QSO and a Lyman Alpha Blob consistent with cold accretion inflows. We have also found strong extended HeII1640 in a Lyman alpha blob that helps decode the geometry and radiative transfer effects in the system and suggests that gravitational cooling is a major energy source. I describe future instrumentation exploring IGM emission on the ground and in space.
