Abstract:
Rapid technological advances in detectors
and computing, along with careful planning
and coordinated operation of global
telescope networks, now allows to locate,
identify and study exploding stars
(supernovae) within hours after explosion.
I will describe the new opportunities these
techniques offer and the advances in our
understanding of the violent death of stars as
cosmic explosions that influence many
aspects of physics and astrophysics.
