Lecturer: Charles Lim Ci Wen Abstract: The grand promise of quantum cryptography is that one can secure information a lot better than conventional methods. One prime example is quantum key distribution, which promises complete security against any adversary if the secret key is transmitted using quantum communication. In other words, you do not need to know your enemy. In this talk, I will present the current results in quantum cryptography and argue that it is still necessary to “know your enemy”, especially if we want to make the technology practical
