Title: High-redshift galaxies and early black holes with JWST

Abstract: The successful deployment of the James Webb Space Telescope has opened up a new window into the high-redshift Universe. Its sensitive near- to mid-infrared instruments enable the study of the rest-frame UV to optical regime during the first billion years of the Universe’s history. In this talk, I will present results based on the first year of observations from the NIRSpec GTO and JADES teams, with a focus on massive black holes and high-redshift galaxies. I will also introduce upcoming JWST programs to push the redshift frontier and to search for Population III stars.
